Florida Council of the Blind
Executive Committee Meeting
August 4, 2026

The meeting was called to order by  1st Vice President Cassandra Jessie at 07:00 PM. Present were 1st Vice President, Cassandra Jessie; 2nd Vice President, Shelley Sawyer; Membership Secretary, Chantale Napier; and Treasurer, Sheila Young.  Kati Lear joined the meeting as a guest.  President Mikey Wiseman joined the meeting later.  Elizabeth Bowden was absent.  

Minutes from July 7, 2026, were approved via an unopposed motion made by Sheila Young, seconded by Shelley Sawyer.

Treasurer’s Report:  Sheila reported that everything to date has been paid with an ending balance of $13,500.00.  There is one outstanding check in the amount of $300.00.  Three people were given stipends to attend the ACB convention.  The other two who applied did not attend.    

Mid-year Board Meeting: It was decided that the mid-year board meeting will be held on October 16 and 17 2026.  

Host Committee for the ACB National Convention in Jacksonville:  The committee will be formed after we receive requirements from Janet Dickleman, ACB convention coordinator.   

Committee Chairs:  There may be changes in committee chairs pending their contact with Mikey.  

Meeting adjournment motion was made by Shelley Sawyer and seconded by Cassandra Jessie.  Meeting end time was 07:35 PM.
