PROJECT INSIGHT COMMITTEE

Mission Statement

To promote the purpose of Project Insight which is to help people who are visually impaired adjust to their vision loss through providing information and education, as well as maintaining and training a network of peer counselors throughout the state.

Duties of the Project Insight Coordinator

The Project Insight Coordinator is usually the first point of contact for a person calling the Project Insight helpline. The coordinator will give any assistance he/she can and determine which peer counselor to call if further information is desired by the caller. The coordinator will keep a call log of all calls made and received on the Project Insight help and information line. The information to be included in the call log is the date, and time of each call, the phone number, the city where the caller lives, and the reason for the call. Because the Project Insight Coordinator is also FCB’s Administrative Assistant, the coordinator shall decide whether each call is a Project Insight or FCB call. The Coordinator will note the kind of call in the call log by PI or FCB in the reason section.

Duties of the Project Insight Peer Counselors

Peer Counselors will provide:
Understanding, support and encouragement
Referrals to local, state, and national organizations
Relevant information
Help with achieving a positive attitude toward vision loss.
