The Southwest Florida Council of the Blind (SWFCB) is a chapter of the Florida Council of the Blind (FCB) and is an affiliate of the American Council of the Blind (ACB).
Our main purpose is to make life a little easier for the blind and visually impaired residing in Charlotte, Lee and Collier counties. Information is the key to becoming an independent and confident blind individual. SWFCB can help by providing a place to network with other blind citizens who might be encountering or who have overcome the same type of problems. Chances are quite good that you will gain some kind of insight regarding a problem or can help someone else.
• We also do advocacy work regarding blind related issues and keep up to date on what is happening that can effect the ‘blind community’.
• In addition to our monthly meeting, when interest is shown we schedule special group activities such as picnics, day trips etc.
• We have fundraising events to ease the financial burden to members who wish to participate in our special events. Our goal is to enable as many members as possible to become involved in ACB, FCB and SWFCB activities.
We meet the 3rd Saturday of each month.
