PENSACOLA COUNCIL OF THE BLIND
The Pensacola Chapter serves a tri-county area in West Florida, Escambia, Okaloosa and Santa Rosa. We were formed in 1989 when we
divided from the local NFB chapter there. Freddie Whitlock served as our first President. Our goal is to reach everyone in these 3
counties who has a visual problem and offer resource information, companionship and sighted assistance with reading and
transportation.
We are a strong fundraising chapter with our main source of fundraising being BINGO. We own a 15-passenger and a 6-passenger van
and frequently provide transportation to our 49 plus members. Our members range in age from 20 to 92.
MEETINGS
We meet at 3676 Mobile Highway Pensacola, FL 32505 on the second Thursday of each month from 6:00 PM until around 9:00 PM. We
try to have an informative guest speaker at least every other month. We also have random picnics either at our building, the
beach or at a local restaurant. These gatherings are usually on a Saturday afternoon.
