JACKSONVILLE COUNCIL OF THE BLIND
Helping People to Help Themselves
Join with us to help each other build the self-confidence and self-reliance that is needed to take our proper place in today's world.
Let's establish a coalition of people and organizations, which include the blindness community. We invite you to join our "family" where
there are others to share experiences and problems. We offer a sharing, caring atmosphere where we can all grow and offer whatever
help we can give to others. We will keep you informed about news in the blindness world through our free publications, personal contact,
workshops, speakers, seminars, and other means of communication.
When we need to raise our voices to support causes, it will be a united strong voice. Our state affiliate, the Florida
Council of the Blind (FCB), has representation in Washington and Tallahassee, working to defend and advocate for our rights and
privileges.
Monthly meetings, which are optional, provide fellowship, social activities, information and mutual support.
Share in these benefits, and/or add your voice to ours, to help to make our voice stronger, by joining today. Send your check payable to
"JCB" for $15.00 to:
JCB
P.O. Box 18274
Jacksonville, FL 32229
Joining the Jacksonville Council of the Blind automatically enrolls you in FCB (chartered in 1953), and the
American Council of the Blind (ACB), organizations that fight for Members' rights with Dignity and
Sincerity.
PHILOSOPHY
JCB is committed to promoting Independence, Dignity and a Better Quality of Life for the blind, visually impaired and all individuals
everywhere.
Members are informed through the Florida Council of the Blind's Newsletter, The White Cane Bulletin, in
Large Print, Audio Tapes, and/or Braille, and through our National Publication,
The Braille Forum.
MEETINGS
Our meeting date and time is the third Monday of each month, from 5:30 - 7:00 PM, at:
Regency Square Branch Library

We are proud to have available a Community Directory of Resources that can assist those with vision impairments. This was
compiled by our CRF (Community Rehabilitation Facility), which is the ILAB (Independet Living for the Adult Blind). This directory not only
has local, but state and national resources.
The directory is very extensive, so it is downloadable as a Microsoft Word document. To download it, click or press Enter on the following
