President, Debbie Grubb called the meeting to order at 5:10 PM. The minutes from last year's pre-convention board meeting were read. These minutes were moved for approval by Robert Miller, seconded by Sila Miller and carried.
Membership Secretary, Sally Benjamin gave her Credentials report. She reported that 3 chapters had not attended the credentials meeting. Paul Edwards made a motion to allow the representatives from these 3 chapters to vote this year only. He also moved to have the Constitution and By-laws Committee look into this and make appropriate by-laws to cover such a contingency in the future. This had been all one motion until it was requested that they be separated. These motions were seconded by Lorene Darby-Henry and carried.
Jim Kracht talked about the voting procedure for the meeting scheduled for Sunday. Jim reported that there was a group seeking to become a new chapter of FCB. This group is located in the Miami Beach area. Don Moore made a motion to accept this group. Debbie Downey seconded the motion. This group had not contacted the existing two chapters. After much discussion the motion was defeated.
Doug Hall was selected to chair the Nominating Committee again this year.
The rest of the meeting consisted of announcements. Nancy Burgess-Hall talked about the Friends of the Library. Representatives from various affiliates talked about fundraising projects taking place throughout the convention. Bill Freeman told where to turn in raffle tickets to him.
The meeting was adjourned at 5:55 PM.
